There's vegetarian right? We all know that, some take the vow in exchange for something with the Buddhist Gods, some do it for health reasons and some just can't eat something with a face.
Of course, there are meat eaters. Steak lovers who cannot do without blood. And then, there are the pescetarians (say pes - kuh- tay- ree- un). Vegetarians who eat fish and other non-fleshy food items. This means a pescetarian cannot have pork, beef, lamb or chicken but fish, eggs and milk are okay.
Oh, wait wait, ranking high on technicalities are lactoovo-vegetarians who do eat eggs and dairy and ovo-vegetarians, who eat eggs but avoid dairy.
And unlike vegetarians and fruitarians who might avoid meat for purely political and ethical reasons, pescetarians shun non-fleshy food for health benefits.
Did I forget about fruitarians? They will only eat something if the process of obtaining the sustenance does not kill the plant. So their diet mostly consists of fruits that have already fallen off the plant.
Health benefits pescetarians, lactovo-vegetarians and ovo-vegetarians enjoy is the lost of animal fat in their meals. Well yes, there are still loads of vegetable oil in their diets but it's a much lower amount of saturated fats, trans fats and cholesterol.
Although some believe that the pescetarian diet cannot really prevent colon cancer or osteoporosis as claimed, staunch supporters say that perhaps being pescetarian can protect against diseases that haven't been really studied. Also, a pescetarian diet can help decrease premenopausal symptoms.
